I took my kids to have a sneaky MacDonalds yesterday (I know I’m a bad parent, don’t judge me!) My daughter pointed out this gem of a sign. We all had a bit of a giggle at our local Pizza Hut’s expense.
It got me thinking though. What we think we are saying is often very different to what is received. Recently I was studying Non-Violent Communication and Marshall Rosenberg (yes go YouTube this now, you’re welcome for saving your Marriage/Job/whatever) suggested asking “What did you just hear me say?”
This seems stupid but maybe they heard that you are full of something other than yummy pizza!
What we say is NOT the same as what was heard!
When have you had a conversation where either you didn’t feel heard or you thought you had agreed one thing and another thing happened?
